While you may have many dental options to choose from, veneers have become a top dental choice for those who come to see us. However, there are many myths and preconceived notions surrounding the idea of veneers. Yet many of those ideas are just myths. Contact us today to learn more!

Here Are The Myths Surrounding Porcelain Veneers And What To Expect

  • Porcelain Veneers break easily - Porcelain veneers are made to last. They usually last for ten years or longer. So, it’s unlikely that they will come off or break.
  • Getting Porcelain Veneers can be painful - Normally there’s no pain in getting veneers. Some people can experience sensitivity or may feel discomfort but by choosing an experienced dentist when getting your porcelain veneers you’re less likely to experience pain.
  • Porcelain Veneers take a lot of care - Porcelain veneers should be taken care of similar to your natural teeth. You should practice good dental hygiene and remember to visit your dentist regularly.
  • Veneers will ruin my teeth - Porcelain veneers won’t harm your teeth. However, the enamel on your teeth will need to be shaved down. You should consult a professional such as Dr. Mike Furumoto or one of our local family dentists in Diamond Bar before getting any work done.
  • Veneers are easily stained - Porcelain veneers don’t stain the same way your pearly whites will. Porcelain is non-porous and thus doesn’t absorb stains the same way enamel would. So no need to worry about red wine or coffee staining your new smile, just continue with your normal dental hygiene regime and your veneers should last for years to come.
